Watercolor/Brush Lettering

There is simply something about the pretty power of brush lettering that is unmatched with any other tool. It can be delicate and soft or wild and whimsical (or anywhere in between) depending on how you wield the brush. Working with watercolors or with sumi ink for different looks, we can promise you that you’ll fall (at least a little!) in love with the meditative nature of brush lettering.

What We’ll Do:

In this class we’ll experiment with exercises to build brush control, get going with letter forms and then have some time for experimenting – splatters encouraged! You’ll leave with a 5×7 print with gold fine-tec accents and a set of tools and tricks to start your practice.

Materials: Your enrollment in the class includes all of your materials to take home

• 1 lettering brush
• Pencil
• Black ink
• Practice Guides
• Grid Paper
• Watercolor sheet

We’ll have watercolor sets to use – but if you’d like to purchase one to keep, we’ll have them available.

To Keep in Mind:

You may want to be mindful about what you wear as lettering (especially with ink) can be messy at first.

Practice is so important to improve your work, I’ll introduce you to everything you need to get started but also highlight a few beautiful online resources that I love to use a reference and inspiration.

Just in Case:

If the date of the class doesn’t work for your schedule, let us know if you’d like to set a date for a private lesson for you and a few friends or as “team-building” for your best co-workers. You’re welcome to bring wine and snacks if that’s your style!
